Mission Detail

The church has been in the Monterrey Area since 1922 but as you can imagine if you know the history of Mexico, the first 20 years were rocky. Religious persecutions of all kinds took place beginning in the late 1920′s. It wasn’t until the 1950′s that the first district was organized here. Our actual mission, the Mexico Monterrey West Mission was formed in 1994.

Our mission consists of twelve stakes and two districts. In Monterrey, which is in the state of Nuevo Leon, the mission includes six stakes. The rest of the stakes are in the state of Coahuila. Three stakes are in Saltillo. Two stakes are in Monclova. Piedras Negras has one stake with the two districts about an hour away from it to the south Nueva Rosita and to the northwest Acuña. Both Acuña and Piedras Negras are border towns with Texas.

Well this is it

Well this is it....

I cant believe that the time has come. This has been the most amazing
experience of my life but surely not my last. I know that this is not
the end of my journey. I still have much to learn and much to do. I am
so grateful that I have had the opportunity to be a representative of
Jesus Christ over these past two years. They have been full of moments
that I will never forget. People I have met, lessons learned both the
easy and hard way. I am so grateful for all of it. I am positive that
there could have not been any other place on the earth that I should
have spent these last two years of my life. They have changed me
forever. I never plan on going back to the way that things were. The
person that the lord has molded me to become is here to stay.

During my time here I have learned how to recognize and follow the
guidance of the Holy Spirit. I know that God literally guides us when
we are in need and willing to listen and follow his councils. Many
times we don't understand why we were directed in the path that God
has shown until we follow with faith. Looking back on it the most
spiritual moments of my life have been a result of following his
guide, even when I didn't exactly understand why.

I know that God blesses those who serve him with love. You can feel it
in the people who really understand the gospel and serve with their
hearts (Moroni 7:5-9).  I know that the only true and lasting joy that
we can experience in this life is through serving God with all our
heart, might, mind, and strength.

I know that my time as a missionary has not ended and never will. I
know there are still many people that are searching for the peace and
love that God offers us as we reach out to him.

I know that God lives and loves us. He sent his son to bring us back
to him. I have no doubt in my mind that Joseph Smith is a true prophet
of God. He saw God and Jesus Christ and was commanded by them to
reestablish his church here on earth. And because of that we all may
live with God again with our families.

I am so grateful for all of the support that you all have given me!
Your letters have helped lift me up when things were hard. You are all
welcome to my homecoming this Sunday the 12th of July at 11. The
address is 12300 south 650 east! i hope to see you all there! Please
confirm that you are going to go with my mom 9706831422.

See you all on Wednesday!

Closing Interview with Mission President

Hi everyone!

This week has been amazing! I have been learning so much over these
past few weeks. I have seen miracles and received so many answers to
my prayers. I know that the lord has been blessing my companion and I
so much. I am grateful for all of your prayers and emails that you
have sent me.

This week has been really exciting. Well first off our mission
president leaves the 30th of June but he still was able to do my exit
interview which was pretty different ha ha. I never though this moment
would come. We talked a lot about goals to put for after the mission
and what I need to do to continue progressing thought my life. I am so
grateful for all of his councils and for all that he has done to help
me grow over these last two years.

During this last week we met someone that went to church last year for
over three months but never was baptized and we have been helping him
gain a testimony of the gospel to be baptized the 5th of July. As well
we have been teaching Facundo he has been progressing very well.
Actually he has been to church over 10 times but we could never find
him in his house. We tried to find him like 40 times in the past few
weeks but nothing. We fasted and well we have found him in his house
ever since! We are teaching him and as well as Pablo he is preparing
to be baptized the 5th of July!

I am so grateful for this time that God has given me to learn and
progress. I know I still have much to learn and these next few weeks I
will be doing my best to learn all that I can!

Zone Conference

Hello everyone!

These past few weeks have been flying by! I love this work so much!

We have been working hard to find families and we have found a few
that are really promising. Its amazing how the lord can guide us to
those who are really in need and willing to follow what he commands.
rarely it happens in the first person that you talk to. Its almost
always when you are just about to give in but you decide to push that
one extra step.

This week we had our last Zone conference and it was amazing. We
started with a temple session. I felt so amazing in the temple. I felt
the answer to questions and doubts that I had. I wish I could explain
in words what I felt but you just cant. During the zone conference we
talked about diligence and hard work. And then because our mission
President leaves in two weeks he gave his last words and talked about
his life and how the Gospel and his mission had shaped his life. He
truly is one of my heroes.

Well this week we will be working hard in helping the new families
that we met and trying to find some new ones!

Have a great week!

Baptism of Celestino

Hey everyone!

This week has been full of miracles but soooo stressful!

The baptism of Celestino was so amazing. His baptism was really a
miracle. From the first day the we met him I knew there was something
special. Well it wasnt too hard to guess he came up to us and told us
that he wanted to go to our church and be baptized. The example of his
fiance really had a big impact on him. It has made me think a lot
about the importance and the power our example has in the lives of
others. Without her example I dont know if we would have ever met
Celestino. He probably would never would have gone up and talked to
us. I hope that I always be like her and share the Gospel with
everyone that I meet. Actually for his baptism his daughter was able
to come with us and she came to church this Sunday as well. Now the
example of Celestino is helping his family follow in his footsteps!

Everything is going good with  Milagros, Edwardo, Mirna and Ricardo.
They will get married this Thursday at 11:30 and 12:30! I am so happy
for them and the choices that they are making. This Sunday after the
services they will be baptized! its amazing how the gospel has had
such an impact on their lives and you can honestly feel the difference
in their home now from when we first met them.

I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that is a guide for us
in everything that we do.

Have an amazing week and Happy Mothers Day!
