Mission Detail

The church has been in the Monterrey Area since 1922 but as you can imagine if you know the history of Mexico, the first 20 years were rocky. Religious persecutions of all kinds took place beginning in the late 1920′s. It wasn’t until the 1950′s that the first district was organized here. Our actual mission, the Mexico Monterrey West Mission was formed in 1994.

Our mission consists of twelve stakes and two districts. In Monterrey, which is in the state of Nuevo Leon, the mission includes six stakes. The rest of the stakes are in the state of Coahuila. Three stakes are in Saltillo. Two stakes are in Monclova. Piedras Negras has one stake with the two districts about an hour away from it to the south Nueva Rosita and to the northwest Acuña. Both Acuña and Piedras Negras are border towns with Texas.

Bike Issues

This week my bike pedal broke in half and well with the bike chain my comp dragged me to th house for like 25 minutes!

Don Pablo Death

Oh and I forgot to tell you guys.

Remember Don Pablo. Well a few weeks ago he got really really sick and when the missionaries went there one of his last wishes was to see me. President Swapp gave me permission to go and see him. Friday I went and saw him and talked with him. It was an amazing experience. He kept on thanking me and told me how excited he was to be able to preach in the next life. I am so grateful to be able to do what I am doing. Tuesday I got a call that he had passed away. I will miss him so much but I can not wait to see him again. I love this work.

Mom Ivonne

Hey!

So this week was pretty great! We are seeing a lot of progress in the people we have been visiting! We are teaching a family that are soo cool! The mom Ivonne was part of another church for over 30 years and was a big leader in the church but always felt like something wasnt right. She saw some stuff that was happening and left the church saying that she wouldnt ever go to another church or listen to missionaries. She was just going to study and live the gospel in her own home. We found her in front of her house and when we started talking with her we must have said something that really got to her because she let us pass and we started talking with her and her family. We taught the Restoration and she loved it. The understood really well and with all their knowledge they could tell that these things were true. When we teach I feel the spirit soo strongly Its amazing. I love going to their house. They read the book of Mormon so much like the hermana as of saturday was already in 2nd nephi. I know that the lord prepares people to join his church and that I am here for those people. When we teach them they start telling us how they had always questioned themselves about that. They came to church sunday and well as for right now we are so excited to have the chance to know them and teach them!

Family Prepared

Hey everyone!

So this week was pretty amazing! First off the weather has been pretty weird like last year. On day super hot like today and one day freezing and raining. With all the changes a lot of people are getting sick. Ive been a little sick this last week but nothing too crazy. Its hard to know what cloths wo put on with weather being so weird!

This week we found an amazing family. Im positive that the Lord has been preparing them to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. The mom Ivon was a really strong member of another church for over 30 years teaching classes and everything but started to realize that things were wrong within the church. She told us that she always felt like there was something missing. When  we taught her and her family the Restoration the loved it . It answered many of their doubts that they had been asking themselves for years. They had always thought that it wasnt right the Jesus only was in the east and never went to visit everyone else. Honestly this family has strengthened my testimony so much that the lord is always getting people ready to receive the gospel we invited them to baptism and they all accepted and we are working with them to reach their goal.

Have an amazing week!

Two New Comps

This week has been so awesome. Well first off there were changes and I now have two companions I am once again with Elder Quiej and also with Elder Jimenez! They are both a lot of fun and I am having a great time working with them. Its so much easier working with them. I learned so much about myself this last change but now I am grateful for the chance to work with some new people. We have been having a lot of success. This week Gilberto Izzet and Betty came to church with us and they all loved the services and told us how excited they were to come to church this next Sunday. We also have been able to see some more progress in the branch as far as people working together and well having fun together! This Friday we have a BBQ with the Elders quorum and well a whole lot of other stuff! Im so excited for this change! Oh and its been warm this week and it hasnt rained so we aren't super dirty all the time!

Have an awesome week!

Comp is my Comp

Hey!

So this week has been good! It was a lot warmer actually I got sunburned... shocker right. Its a lot better in the heat because people actually get out of bed and leave their house when its warm outside. So its a lot easier to find new people to teach. My comp well is my comp but things are alright at least today are changes so we probably wont be companions anymore. I have learned a lot about myself this change and I feel like I have grown. This change has really showed me the real reason why I am here and for that I am grateful. I hope everything is going good up north! From what I have heard things are going great!

Struggles

Hey everyone!

How has your week been? I hope everything is going well!

So this week has been pretty interesting. The last few weeks have been a pretty big struggle but lately I have found a lot of help through reading the book of Mormon. Last Monday our mission president gave us a challenge to read the book of Mormon in 45 days and be writing down what you have learned in a journal. I have never had a scripture journal before so I started this last week. I cant tell you how much the lord has helped me with the problems that I have been facing through reading. I have had much more patience  and felt so much more the spirit in my life. I know that the book of Mormon is the word of God and that we can only truly understand who God is by reading his scriptures. I hope you all have been reading the book of Mormon and if now well now is a great time to start!

Have and awesome week!
